(AP) - Steve Flesch shot a 1-over 73 on Sunday and beat Michael Allen by two shots to win the inaugural Turning Stone Resort Championship, the left-hander's second PGA Tour victory in two months. Flesch had an 18-under 270 total and won $1.08 million to boost his earnings for 2007 to $2.2 million, vaulting him from 70th on the money list into the top 30. He also earned a spot in the U.S. Open next year as a multiple winner since the last Open. |
| Gil Morgan Wins Wal-Mart First Tee Open, PEBBLE BEACH, Calif. (AP) - Gil Morgan won his 25th career Champions Tour title Sunday, closing with a 5-under 67 for a two-stroke victory over Hale Irwin in the Wal-Mart First Tee Open. The 60-year-old Morgan won at Pebble Beach 15 years after a disappointing finish in the U.S. Open on the historic course. In 1992, Morgan was 12 under after seven holes of the third round, the lowest anyone had been in a U.S. Open, but played the next seven holes in 9 over and ended up tying for 13th. |
